One of my friends here in Weirton who is also a b bicolana called me and said that she has some goodies to share. So the day after my birthday, we went to her house and picked the goodies up. She gave me Pancit Bato (the noodles that I love from Bicol), Dahon ng Gabi (taro leaves), tinapang bangus (smoked milkfish), and some cooking mix. It was a perfect timing because I was craving for laing.
I let hubby try the pancit bato, I think if I am not mistaken, this is called pancit bato as it is originally made in Bato Cam. Sur. Of all the pancit, this is my favorite of all time.
Then I made the laing,YUM! Ate Agnes told me to put the bangus to make it tasty but I decided to just put a can of sardines and pork meat in it. Making laing is very easy, all you need is coconut milk (3 cans for a pack of taro leaves), hot peppers (I put 4 jalapeños), shrimp paste (optional), ginger, onion and that's it.
You can cook the meat by sauteing it or you can just let it cook in the coconut milk. Do you eat laing?
Since hubby don't like the "marijuana", that's how he calls the taro leaves lol, I made him some adobong sitaw.
Sometimes, when I am in the mood to cook, I cook 2 or three menus but when Ms. Lazy is visiting me, I don't cook at all hahaha.

Pancit Bato, first time ko narinig yan ah, akala ko pag kinain kasing tigas ng bato, LOL!
My husband also called Taro leaves Marijuana, ipaguntog natin mga asawa nating "ignorante" pero yes, marunong na din sya kumain ng sitaw.
Bakit kaya wala akong nakikitang Knorr Real Sabaw dito,hmmm...
For sure masarap ka maglaing, authentic Bicolana eh, :D
Back in PI I don't eat laing, now though I eat it but from the can :D The ones I buy from the asia-shop...i don't think I can cook it! From your loot I'd have the smoked bangus!!! yum!!

si bunsong tisoy ko,like nya both pinoy and american food.
Your laing looks delicious and I like it with less spice. Cooking sitaw is not so appealing because of its uric acid.
Oh love that marijuana dish! haha!
we have a neighbor from bicol that can cook really good laing... but i prefer the fresh taro leaves... am sorry pero tingin ko talaga sa dried leaves ng taro pagkain ng pigs namin... pero pag di ko nakita ang ingredients kakain ako wahahaha (may tupak din ako!)
i love adobong sitaw.. si dave naman mas gusto nya adobong sitaw without meat!
hahhaha...loka tong si mami Lu....lol!
nako never pa akong nakakain ng laing sis...ano ba lasa? curious ako...ehehehe!
waaaaa...parang may birthday party ah...3 dishes? hahhaha....pede makibalot? pancit lang sakin....lol!
maryjane pala ang tawag nya, DH might call it the same...he he he. Matagal na rin akong hindi nakakain ng taro leaves. my mom use to make that a lot when I was young, with tuyong dilis...:))
Wow, I'm sure your laing is the best. Bicolanas cook the best laing in town and my mouth is already drooling, for laing is my favorite vegetable dish together with Bicol Express, lol. Hindi ko pa natitikman yung pancit bato na sinasabi mo. Kahawig ba ito nang pancit habhab sa Sariya, Quezon? Ang bait naman nung kababayan mo na nag share sa iyo nang mga Pinoy goodies. God bless her more for that. Thanks for the usual yummy post. God bless you all always.
Naku ang sarap nang laing, paborito ko yan... waaaaaaaaaaaa... meron pa? heheheehe... i like to eat it pag ang ante ko ang nagluto.. especially it has coconut milk.. hmmmmm and maanghang pa.. yum! Sa amin ang tawag sa luto nang pancit na ganyan ay Bam-e sa mga bisaya... sarap nyan!
mukhang masarap yan ah!!!
